About This Reducer

Keep your airflow strong from one duct size to the next, so suction does not drop where the pipe steps down. This reducer joins 8 inch and 2 inch duct with a tapered inside, so air moves smooth and you lose less pull.

It is printed in PETG, so it stands up to shop heat and solvents and will not crack like brittle PLA. Both ends are a friction fit, so they push together with no clamps or tape in most setups. Every part is made to order in the USA.

What You Get

  • One PETG reducer, 8 inch on the large end and 2 inch on the small end
  • A tapered inside, so air keeps moving and you lose less pull
  • Friction fit on both ends, so it pushes on with no clamps
  • Works as a reducer or an expander, so one part does two jobs

How it fits

  1. 1

Push the large end onto your 8 inch duct or hose.

  2. 2

Slide your 2 inch duct onto the small end.

  3. 3

Twist a little so both friction-fit ends seat.

  4. 4

Run your dust collector and the airflow steps down clean.

Settle the size

Two ways to land on the right number.

1. Measure it yourself

Calipers or a ruler in millimeters. That number is what the builder asks for, and we print to it.

How to measure both ends

First look at the port on your tool. Most are an opening you can put a caliper tip inside. Some are a stub that sticks out, the kind a hose slips over. The two need different numbers, so check which one you have before you measure.

If the port is an opening, measure the inside. Put your calipers in the opening and open them until they touch both walls. That inside number is the one our parts are built to, because our adapter goes into the port.

If the port is a stub the hose slips over, measure across the outside of the stub. Our adapters today are male on both ends, so they go into an opening rather than over a stub. That means a stub port may need a different part than the ones we list, so ask us before you order.

Do the same at the vacuum end. Measure the inside of the open hose or duct end. With both numbers written down, the chart and the builder both know what to show you.

2. Put your setup on the record

Your part and both sizes go with it. The connections people ask for most are the ones we draw next. No payment, and nothing ships.

Give us two numbers and we build to them.

Common questions

Which way does the air flow?

Either way. It works as a reducer when air moves from the large end to the small end, and as an expander when you flip it. One part covers both jobs.

Do I need clamps or tape?

No. Both ends are a friction fit, so they push on and grip on their own in most setups. A wrap of tape helps if your duct is worn.

Will it fit my duct?

It is sized for 8 inch on the large end and 2 inch on the small end. If your run uses two sizes we do not stock, we print a reducer to your two numbers.

What is it made of?

PETG. It handles shop heat and common shop solvents and takes drops without cracking like brittle PLA.

Need a size we do not stock?

Pick any two duct sizes from 1.25 inch to 4 inch and we print it to order. Every size makes its own priced page.
