Full port and fit detail for this tool
The Makita 9404 is a 4 inch belt sander. It hogs off stock fast and levels big surfaces in a hurry. All that fast cutting throws a lot of dust and grit.
The sander has a small round dust port on the side. Our adapter fits it. Our PETG adapter plugs into that port and steps it up to any standard shop vac or dust extractor hose. No tape. No clamps.

Makita 9404 Dust Port: What Fits It
The 9404 has a small round dust port on the side of the tool. Our adapter is printed to plug into it.
The 9404 comes with a small dust bag, but a bag fills fast and lets fine dust escape. Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch, far too big for this port, so a taped hose leaks.
A GulpDust adapter grips the sander port on one end and your bigger vac hose on the other end. Firm push, no tape.
How to Connect a Shop Vac to the Makita 9404
Take the dust bag off and clear any dust out of the port first. A clean port gives the best grip.
Push the tool end of the PETG adapter into the port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm press. Then press your shop vac or dust extractor hose onto the other end.
Turn the vac on before you start sanding. A belt sander makes dust fast, so a running vac keeps up far better than the small bag.
Why Dust Collection Matters on a Belt Sander
A belt sander removes stock fast. That means a lot of dust in a short time. The stock dust bag cannot hold it all and lets the fine part blow into the air.
Pulling the dust at the port with a vac keeps the bench and the air clean. It also keeps your view of the work clear so you sand flat and even.
For the best result, run a steady vac while you sand. Any shop vac with the right adapter beats the small bag.
Makita 9404 Dust Collection FAQ
What size is the dust port on the Makita 9404?+
It is a small round port on the side of the sander. Our adapter is built to plug into it. You pick the hose end you need.
Does the Makita 9404 work with a regular shop vac?+
Yes, with an adapter. Most shop vac hoses are much bigger than this port. The GulpDust PETG adapter is sized to the sander port on one end and to your vac hose on the other.
Is a shop vac better than the dust bag on the 9404?+
Yes, in most cases. The bag fills fast and lets fine dust escape. A vac pulls steadily and catches more of the dust at the port.
Do I need clamps to attach the adapter?+
No. The adapter is a friction fit. You press it into the port and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way.
Do you sell the design file?+
No. We sell the finished part. Each one is printed to order in PETG and ships from the US.
