Full port and fit detail for this tool

The Makita DKP180 is an 18V LXT cordless hand planer. It shaves wood on the go, with no cord to drag. Like any planer, it does not make fine dust. It fires wood curls and shavings out of the chip port, and they build up fast.

The planer has a round chip port at the rear. Our adapter fits it. Our PETG adapter plugs into that port and steps it to any standard shop vac or dust extractor hose. No tape. No clamps.

Makita DKP180 Chip Port: What Fits It

The DKP180 has a round chip port at the back of the planer. Our adapter is printed to plug into it.

A planer throws a lot of chips, so its port is wider than the port on a sander or a trim router. A thin 27 mm hose would clog. A big 2-1/2 inch shop vac hose does not seat right. That size gap is why chips leak out when you tape a hose on.

A GulpDust adapter grips the planer port on one end and your bigger vac hose on the other end. Firm push, no tape.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the Makita DKP180

Clear any chips out of the rear port first. A clean port grips the best.

Push the tool end of the PETG adapter into the port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm press. Then press your shop vac or dust extractor hose onto the other end.

Turn the vac on before you start planing. Because the DKP180 is cordless, you can plane away from a wall, so keep the vac hose long enough to follow the tool.

Why Cordless Planers Still Need a Chip Hookup

A cordless planer gives you free reach, but it still makes big wood curls and shavings. Those chips fill a port fast and can jam it if the air flow is weak.

Pulling the chips at the port keeps the tool from clogging and keeps your work area clear. It also stops chips from flying back at you.

For the best result, use a vac with strong air flow. A shop vac with a wide hose pulls the chips the best.

Makita DKP180 Dust Collection FAQ

What size is the chip port on the Makita DKP180?+

It is a round port at the rear of the planer. Our adapter is built to plug into it. You pick the hose end you need.

Does the Makita DKP180 work with a regular shop vac?+

Yes, with an adapter. Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch, and they do not seat on this port. The GulpDust PETG adapter is sized to the planer port on one end and to your vac hose on the other.

Can I run a shop vac with a cordless planer?+

Yes. The planer runs on its battery and the vac runs on its own power or plug. Just keep the hose long enough to move with the tool as you work.

Do I need clamps to attach the adapter?+

No. The adapter is a friction fit. You press it into the port and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way.

Do you sell the design file?+

No. We sell the finished part. Each one is printed to order in PETG and ships from the US.
