The DeWalt DW734 is the 12-1/2 inch benchtop thickness planer. It turns rough boards flat and smooth, and it buries the bench in shavings while it does it. A planer makes more waste per minute than a saw or a sander ever will.
The chips leave through a hood on the back. Our PETG adapter joins that hood to the hose you already run, so the shavings go into the collector instead of onto the floor. No tape. No clamps.

DeWalt DW734 Dust Port: What Fits It
The hood on the back of the planer is round. Our adapter is made to fit it.
The hood is built for a 4 inch dust collector hose. If that is what you run, you may not need anything at all. Most people do not run one.
If your hose is a shop vac hose instead, that is the gap our adapter fills. It grips the hood on one end and your hose on the other end.
How to Hook a Shop Vac or Dust Collector to the DW734
Unplug the planer first. Then clear the shavings out of the hood so the adapter seats clean.
Press the hood end of the PETG adapter on. It is a friction fit, so a firm push is all it takes. Then press your hose onto the other end.
Start the collector before you feed the board. This machine fills the hood in the first few inches of a pass.
Keep the run short and straight. A long, kinked hose on a planer packs with shavings and stops moving air.
Why a Benchtop Planer Buries a Shop Vac
A planer takes wood off in wide sheets. One pass on a 12 inch board makes more waste than an hour of sanding.
A shop vac is built for high suction through a small hose. That is right for a sander and wrong for a planer, and a full drum on a planer takes about two boards.
A dust collector is built the other way, for a lot of air through a big hose. That is what a planer wants.
Run a shop vac if that is what is in the shop. Just empty it early and often, and put a cyclone separator in front of it so the filter does not pack.
DW734 or DW735: Which Dust Setup You Need
The DW734 is the 12-1/2 inch planer. The DW735 is the 13 inch, and it has a fan inside that pushes the chips out under pressure.
Both use a round hood on the collection side, and both take an adapter that fits the hood.
The difference is on the machine itself. The DW735 has a second outlet that is not round, so a round part will not seal there. The DW734 does not have that problem.
