36mm Dust Port Tools and Vacuum Adapter Guide

36mm inner40mm outer1 tools

A 36mm dust port is round and measures 36mm across on the inside. The Ridgid R8606B 5 in. random orbit sander uses this size.

Your shop vac hose is bigger. A 1-7/8 in. or 2-1/2 in. hose end will not seat on a 36mm port. A sized PETG adapter grips the 36mm port on one end and opens to your vac hose on the other end. Friction fit, no tape and no clamps.

Which Tool Has a 36mm Port

The Ridgid R8606B 5 in. random orbit sander has a 36mm port. It is round and it sits on the side of the sander. The adapter for this hub is sized to it.

Plenty of other tools get labeled 36mm and measure something else at the tool port. Makita is the common mix-up: the BO5041 sander is 22mm at the cuff, the XOB01Z sander is 22.2mm, the GBO01Z XGT sander is 22.6mm, the XTR01Z router is 37mm, the GRT01Z XGT router is 37.85mm, and the 9903 and 9403 belt sanders are 32.37mm inside. Use the tool detail page for the tool you own.

What to Do If Your Tool Has a 36mm Port

Measure the port with calipers. Close the jaws around the OUTSIDE of the port stub. That number is the outer diameter. The inside diameter is your stub-fit target.

If your tool has a 36mm interior port, open the configurator and enter 36 as your tool port size. Pick your shop vac or duct on the other side and the configurator resolves the adapter. It prints in PETG and ships from the US.
