2 in. (50.8mm) Dust Hose Size and the Adapter That Fits It
A 2 inch fitting is 50.8mm. It shows up on shop vac hoses, on dust collection duct, and on the big lower ports of stationary machines.
It is a hose and duct size, not a hand-tool port size. Very few power tools have a 2 inch port molded into them. When a listing says a tool has a 2 inch port, it is usually quoting the hose that fits it, not the tool.
That mix-up is easy to make and it costs money. A part built to 50.8mm will not go into a port that is really 35mm across. So this page is about the hose end. Pick your tool on its own page, and set this size as the other end.

What Uses the 2 in. (50.8mm) Hose and Duct Size
2 inch is a common middle size. Plenty of shop vac hoses are 2 inch. Flexible dust hose sold by the foot comes in 2 inch. Some benchtop machines have a 2 inch outlet on the back.
Because it lives on the vacuum and duct end, you rarely fit it straight onto a hand tool. You fit it to an adapter, and the adapter grips the tool port on the other side.
How to Step a 2 in. Hose Down to Your Tool Port
Start with your tool. Find it on this site, or measure the port with calipers. Measure across the inside of the port, not the outside. That inside number is the tool end of the adapter.

Why a Big Hose Is Not Always Better
A wider hose moves more air at the same speed, which helps on machines that make heavy chips. It does not help much on a small sander, where the port itself is the narrow point.
Keep the hose short and straight when you can. Long, kinked hoses cut your suction no matter what size they are.
