DeWalt DWS716 12 in. Double Bevel Compound Miter Saw

Specifications

Full port and fit detail for this tool

The DeWalt DWS716 is the 12 inch double bevel compound miter saw. It is the saw that lives on a trim job. Cut after cut, it throws a fan of dust straight out the back of the blade guard.

The saw has a round dust port at the rear behind the bag. Our PETG adapter fits that port on one end and your shop vac hose on the other end, so the dust goes in the drum instead of on the floor. No tape. No clamps.

DeWalt DWS716 Dust Port: What Fits It

The dust port sits at the back of the saw, behind the blade, where the chip bag clips on. It is round. Our adapter is made to fit it.

Shop vac hoses come in a few sizes and none of them push onto this port and hold. The cuff either rattles loose or will not go on at all.

Our adapter matches the saw port on one end and your hose on the other end. Tell us which hose you run and we print that end to match.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the DWS716

Unplug the saw. Pull the chip bag off the port and knock the dust out of the opening.

Press the saw end of the PETG adapter onto the port. Firm push, and it holds. Then press the vac hose onto the other end.

Switch the vac on before you cut. A miter saw fires everything backward in the first half second of the cut, so the vac has to already be pulling.

Leave enough slack in the hose that the head can travel and bevel without dragging the hose with it.

The Chip Bag on a DWS716, and Why It Loses

The bag catches the big chips. That is all it does well.

Fine dust goes straight through the cloth and hangs in the air, and once the bag is half full it stops catching much of anything. Anybody who has cut a room of base trim has watched it happen.

A shop vac on the port pulls harder and keeps pulling. It also empties into a drum instead of a cloth sack you have to shake out.

If you cut a lot of MDF, put a cyclone separator between the saw and the vac. MDF dust packs a filter faster than anything else in the shop.

DWS716, DWS779 and DWS780: Which Page Is Yours

These saws sit in the same family and hook up the same way. Each one has its own page and its own part.

Find the model number on the plate on the motor housing and use the page that matches it. Guessing from a model that looks similar is how people end up with a part that will not seat.

One DeWalt miter saw is not on any of these pages. The DW718 has a port that is not round, so a round adapter will not seal on it and we do not make a part for that saw.

DeWalt DWS716 Dust Collection FAQ

Will a GulpDust adapter fit the DeWalt DWS716 dust port?+

Yes. The port is round and sits at the rear of the saw. Our adapter is printed to fit it, and the other end matches your shop vac hose.

Is a shop vac better than the DWS716 chip bag?+

Yes. The bag catches big chips and lets the fine dust through, and it stops working well once it fills. A vac on the port pulls more and keeps pulling.

Does the same adapter fit the DWS779 or DWS780?+

Those saws are close, but each one has its own page and its own part. Use the page that matches the model on your saw.

Does it fit the DW718?+

No. The DW718 dust port is not round, so a round adapter will not seal on it. We do not make a part for that saw.

Do I need clamps or tape to attach the adapter?+

No. The adapter is a friction fit. You push it on and it holds. The vac hose end works the same way.

Do you sell the design file?+

No. We sell the finished part. Each one is printed to order in PETG and ships from the US.
