Full port and fit detail for this tool

The DeWalt DWS779 is the 12 inch double bevel sliding compound miter saw. It plugs into the wall and makes clean crosscuts and angle cuts. A big saw like this kicks out a lot of dust behind the blade.

The saw has a round dust port on the rear, on the dust bag nozzle. Our PETG adapter is made to fit that port. One end grips the saw. The other end takes your shop vac hose. No tape. No clamps.

DeWalt DWS779 Dust Port: What Fits It

The dust port on the DWS779 is round. It sits on the rear of the saw, behind the blade. Our adapter is made to fit it.

Most shop vac hoses are 1-7/8 inch or 2-1/2 inch. Neither one fits this port on its own.

The adapter matches the saw port on one end and your vac hose on the other end. Pick your hose and we print the part to fit.

How to Connect a Shop Vac to the DeWalt 12 Inch Miter Saw

First, pull off the dust bag and look at the rear port. Wipe out any sawdust so the adapter seats clean.

Press the tool end of the PETG adapter into the port. It is a friction fit, so it holds with a firm push. Then press your shop vac hose onto the other end.

Turn the vac on before you cut. A miter saw throws dust straight back, so the vac needs to be running to grab it.

Best Vacuum and Dust Extractor Setup for the DeWalt DWS779

A miter saw makes a lot of chips fast. The dust bag fills up and lets fine dust escape. A shop vac on the port works far better than the bag.

If you cut a lot of trim, add a cyclone separator between the saw and the vac. The separator drops the heavy chips into a bucket so your vac filter stays clean longer.

Keep the hose short and straight when you can. Long, kinked hoses cut your suction and let dust settle inside.

DeWalt DWS779 Dust Collection FAQ

Will a GulpDust adapter fit the DeWalt DWS779 dust port?+

Yes. The port is round and sits on the rear of the saw. Our adapter is printed to fit it, and the other end matches your shop vac hose.

Does the DeWalt DWS779 work with a regular shop vac?+

Yes, with the right adapter. A standard shop vac hose does not fit this port on its own. The GulpDust PETG adapter fits the saw port on one end and your vac hose on the other.

Do I need clamps or tape to attach the adapter?+

No. The adapter is a friction fit. You push it into the port and it holds. The same goes for the vac hose end.

Is a shop vac better than the dust bag?+

Yes. The bag fills up fast and lets fine dust slip out. A shop vac on the port pulls more dust and keeps more of it out of the air.

Do you sell the design file?+

No. We sell the finished part. Each one is printed to order in PETG and ships from the US.

Does the same adapter fit other DeWalt miter saws?+

Sometimes. The DWS780 and the DWS713 have close ports, but each saw is a bit different and the DWS780 port is tapered. Each tool page has the adapter made for that saw.
